Lumigenex, a fast growing biotech company with focuses on clinical diagnostics and infection control, has an opening position in Organic Chemistry in our research facility at Biobay in Suzhou Singapore Industrial Park, China.

Essential Duties and Job Functions: Plans and executes assigned experiments that support research activities and project goals. Demonstrates and applies advanced level of understanding project goals and methods. With general guidance and direction selects appropriate methods and techniques in performing experiments. May contribute to the development of project strategy. Collaborates with supervisory personnel to develop routine research methods. May work cross- functionally within organization to achieve common goals. Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and may proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems. Participates in group meetings. Presents results of work, interprets data, draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work. Works with limited to minimal supervision on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position: As Research Associate, you will participate in an integrated research team aimed at identifying and synthesizing chemical entities for infection control and molecular diagnostics. Under the guidance of an experienced Research Scientist you will be responsible for planning, designing and executing multi-step synthesis pathways toward key target molecules, followed by purification and compound characterization. Communication of results, methods and conclusions to departmental colleagues is essential. Collaboration with colleagues across disciplines, participation in project team meetings, and contribution toward creative problem solving are all encouraged.
- BS or MS in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry/Bioorganic Dye Chemistry. - Familiarity with modern chromatographic techniques, including LCMS, flash chromatography and preparative scale HPLC highly preferred. - Familiarity with modern analytical techniques (NMR, IR, Fluorometry etc). - A strong interest in medicinal chemistry/ Bioorganic Dye Chemistry combined with good laboratory skills - Familiarity with MS Office and ChemDraw required.
